Prof. HU Hongying is the Dean of Xiuzhong College and a distinguished Professor in the School of Environment, Tsinghua University. He is a leading expert in water environment governance and water reuse technologies, with a primary focus on the safety assessment and control of reclaimed water and regional water cycle utilization. Prof. HU demonstrates significant international leadership, having served as the inaugural Chairman of the ISO TC282 SC2 on Urban Water Reuse(2014.8-2022.12), Member of Management Committee of IWA Water Reuse Specialist Group(2008.9－),etc. His current role as Dean aligns his extensive research experience with the College's mission to cultivate interdisciplinary leaders committed to sustainable development.

Xiuzhong College is the ninth undergraduate college established by Tsinghua University.The number "nine",symbolizing longevity,coincides with Xiuzhong college's inherent trait of aiming at the future.

The fundamental mission of Xiuzhong College is to cultivate leaders who focused on the future in global green development. To contribute Tsinghua's strength towards building a community of shared life between humans and nature, and a community with a shared future for mankind, thus fostering sustainable development in human society.

Constructing modernization where human and nature coexist harmoniously, implementing sustainable development, and advancing the construction of ecological civilization represent new major strategic deployments in China's new era.

Solving major challenges in sustainable development, such as resources and energy, ecological environment, urban construction, social governance, and climate change, is a common task for the entire world and humanity.

Xiuzhong College focuses on shaping students' core competencies for the future. The college emphasizes nurturing a sense of shared human destiny and international perspective, fostering habits of deep thinking, independent explorationand judgment, and strengthening training in logical and systemic thinking.
